Dilli Village Signage
This project involved designing interpretive and wayfinding signage for the University of the Sunshine Coast’s research station at Dilli Village on K’gari (Fraser Island). The goal was to create signage that not only informed but also reflected the unique ecology, heritage, and research focus of the site blending visual design with environmental storytelling.

The Project
This project aims to create a seamless and connected experience that establishes a strong identity and sense of welcome for K'gari Research Station. Through strategically designed wayfinding and interpretive signage, integrated with technology, the project will encourage exploration, deepen understanding and foster cultural connection across the station and the wider island. It will also highlight UniSC’s assets, research and learning opportunities, while communicating the ecological and cultural significance of this important site.

Our Creative Journey

I produced multiple draft concepts in this project (including the welcome signs and Butchulla welcome) that explored different hierarchy and compositions to ensure they complimented UniSC’s visual identity and K’gari’s landscape. I also created hand-drawn digital illustrations of native bushes in Procreate, then Illustrator (to vectorise them) to add authenticity and increase engagement. The final deliverable was a consistent set of signage layouts from the whole team that are ready to print and install and designed to draw key ecological information to enhance visitor experiences.
